There's where the problem seems to begin, then. The problem isn't with the world, but with the incorrect a priori assumptions that have been imposed upon the world by Greek thought. Certainly one need not look at the world this way, however! If all things were made through the Word, then the world actually signs that the Triune God is fundamentally for it.

Maybe...: Creation->Old Testament->Christ, as witnessed to in New Testament. Likewise, Christ has made Himself known through: Incarnation, as witnessed to by New Testament->Old Testament->Creation.

If God is fundamentally FOR all of creation, then all of creation must, at its most basic, objective level, be FOR God, even if many choose to use their 'image-of-God-created-selves' to refuse to admit it.

Instead of continuing to give the whole of our attention to the wrong conclusions offered by wrong approaches to natural theology, why not shift to a constructive approach toward the discipline?

For instance, take the observation of motion. What is required for motion to be perceived? More than one object, as well as a relationship between the objects. I know that the car moves because the road/building/tree does not. Therefore motion demands, at its most basic level, a relatedness between two objects (a relationship). Relationship, therefore, must be prior to motion, for it establishes the possibility of it. Perhaps, then, relationship is at the center of reality...

Of course, this is a crass example, since it was thought up in about 5 minutes. But surely the very relatedness of things points to the relationships that is found in the Triune God. In fact, the Triune God is the very foundation of that relatedness. We are right to see it as a clue that beckons us toward God.Daniel Isadorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17075546081448489811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32437338341330039.post-80863299624315550212009-05-02T11:56:00.000-05:002009-05-02T11:56:00.000-05:00Martin, you bad boy chef! And by everyone, I mean EVERYONE.

This western omelet is the only thing on the menu, it seems to me, in much of Christendom.

How can it be that we created a god who is the opposite of our own image and worship him? And we don't even see our own perverse idolatry. And modern evangelicalism defends this god with all the vigor and venom it can muster.

Since I believe Satan is the father of all religions, I'm tempted to say that he is well pleased with the omelet we've cooked up. I suspect it's his recipe.

When will humans quit trying to cook up something good, when something infinitely good has already been set before us?

I can't wait to see your cover article in the next PTM. It is a testimony to God's grace that His will has been done and will be done, in the church, even though our minds have labored under the burden of our own vision of God. And the new article in the Plain Truth is another reminder that God (and I mean the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!) is so much bigger than we had ever thought - His grace covers everything we need for life - even to supplying the love that reveals us as His children.
